Battery Management System for Engine Starting
Batteries:
There are several voltage levels designed into
the NeverDie Bridge: these are V1, V2, V3, and
C1.
PB = Push Button input
CL = Cell Loop input
For
illustration purposes we will use this profile:
-
A Pushbutton interface
- A 10 Second Count Feature
V1.
Low Voltage (2.95V/cell 11.8V/pack): After 10
seconds below this level battery OPENS MOSFET
bridge. Battery CAN be re-armed through PBCL below
this Low voltage(V1) and above Dead voltage(V2).
V2.
Dead Voltage (2.5V/cell 10.0V/pack): After 10
seconds below this level battery OPENS MOSFET
bridge. Battery CANNOT be re-armed through PB/CL
below this Dead voltage(V2).
V3.
Short Circuit Voltage (1.5V/cell 6.0V/pack): If
pack voltage hits 6.0V, it will instantly OPEN
MOSFET bridge and ignore any timer countdown in
the above voltage levels(V1,V2). After MOSFET
bridge is opened V1 and V2 determine if PB/CL
input will close MOSFET bridge.
C1. Charge-Enable Voltage (3.25V/cell 13.0V/pack):
If MOSFET bridge is in a OPEN state from V1 it
will CLOSE MOSFET bridge to reduce charge resistance
(lowers MOSFET temperature under high amp charge
condition).

Why
is our Wireless Remote so Great?
First,
it is really two devices in one:
1 ) The wireless remote is a great security and anti-theft
device. By clicking the button on the remote after you
exit your vehicle, you "shut off and lock" your
Lithionics lithium ion battery. The car cannot be jump started
or hot wired without clicking the "on" button
of the remote (the battery will be in sleep mode with ZERO
VOLTAGE at the battery posts and will not activate). This
means that in many cases that for a thief to steal your
vehicle, they will have to physically remove and replace
the battery.
2 ) The wireless remote is also great for vehicle
storage or for vehicles that have a large parasitic
drain or draw. This feature is especially handy if your
vehicle has a battery location that is very difficult to
reach to disconnect your regular lead-acid battery. This
function is great for vehicles that only see occasional

simply the click the "off" button on the wireless
remote and your battery will enter sleep mode, ensuring
that when the Emergency Response Team is called and you
go to start the vehicle again, it will be ready and charged
for you (our lithium ion batteries also store energy up
to 5 X longer than lead-acid batteries).
You
may ask "What if I misplace or lose the Wireless
Remote?"
Well,
we thought of that too. When you order your Lithionics Battery
with our "Wireless Remote NEVERDIE Option",
your battery will come supplied with TWO WIRELESS REMOTE
KEY FOBS - so you always have a spare. This is also
a great feature if there are two drivers of the same vehicle
(such as Team Members that Patrol together or share the
same vehicle).
The

function is useful for:

You
may also ask "What is NEVERDIE?"
NeverDie is
an option that can be ordered with ALL of our batteries at
extra cost. This is a Low Voltage Cutoff (LVC) circuitry built
into the battery that will allow you to use the electricity
in your Deep Cycle lithium ion battery with the engine
off and the battery will automatically enter "sleep mode"
once the battery is drawn down to 3% to 5% of its total charge.
This means you can use approximately 95% to 97% of the energy
in the battery before it enters "sleep mode". This
way, you cannot drain your new lithium ion battery completely
by accident.
The
NeverDie System for 12 Volt Engine Starting battery
applications has a different Low Voltage Cutoff (LVC) point.
Typically with the 12 Volt Engine Starting battery applications
you can use 80% to 90% of the energy in your lithium ion battery
before the NeverDie System LVC will be activated. This will
mean that you will have 10% to 20% of the battery's total
charge available - which is enough for 2 or 3 engine starts.
If your vehicle or vessel is hard to start or you will use
your vehicle/ vessel in some of Canada's colder climate
areas (-20 degrees Celsius and colder) we suggest that
you order your lithium ion battery with a Low Voltage Cutoff
at 30% to ensure more starting power if the battery was
accidentally drained.
If
you order the NEVERDIE Pushbutton, a simple
button will be located on the top of your battery to manually
shut down the battery for storage or to "wake up"
the battery from sleep mode.
If
your battery location is hard to reach, we suggest that you
order the "Wireless Remote Key-Fob NEVERDIE Option".
This option allows you to remotely turn on and off your battery,
as well as wake it up from "sleep mode". Multiple
Lithionics Battery lithium ion battery installations can be
ordered with the "Wireless Remote Key-Fob NEVERDIE
Option" keyed alike for multiple batteries so that
one remote controls all the batteries.
IMPORTANT
NEVERDIE NOTES: Please check with your vehicle/ vessel
manufacturer about the effects of disabling the battery. In
Marine Applications for boats that are moored, you should
determine how the NeverDie function may affect safety systems
- particularly Bilge Pump Operation.
