We
offer a complete selection of all the electric parts
that you will need for your RV, Yacht or Residential
Clean Energy Project including resettable breakers,
terminal fuse blocks and more. In many cases, we can
provide you with a 5,000 Ohm "Resistor Bridge"
for some devices using the Perfect Switch POWER-GATE
relays where the generator or MPPT solar charge controllers
need to be able to constantly "sense"
the battery(s) Voltage. In these situations, the Resistor
Bridge allows the battery's Voltage to pass over the
POWER-GATE device but only allows a very small amount
of current to pass - typically about 0.15 Amps. On dual
rectifier isolators like the one shown above (used to
connect one alternator to 2 separate battery banks to
allow independent/ optimal charging of both battery
banks from one alternator), we can install one Resistor
Bridge on each of the two stud posts that go to the
battery (on the right of above photo) and the other
end of the Resistor Bridges bolt onto the input stud
post on the left in the above photo.
The
photo above shows the Resistor Bridges installed on
3 POWER-GATE
single rectifiers rated at 50 Amps each that connect
to 3 Victron Energy MPPT solar charge controllers powered
by Solbian solar panels. These 3 solar circuits feed
3 separate battery banks for recharging and as those
battery banks also have other charging devices connected
to them that can run at the same time as we have solar
output, the POWER-GATE single relays prevent any possible
charging conflicts.

Device Notes:
Generation
3.0 Bi-directional Relays have been superceded by Generation
4.1 devices and units in excess of 300 Amps are now
offered (up to 600 Amps). Generation 3.0 Devices will
not be offered for New Applications but will be available
for replacements/ existing systems.
Essentially
all of the POWER-GATE devices from Uni-directional Single
Rectifier Relays/ Isolators to the POWER-GATE Cicuit Breakers
etc. utlize a similar case design and have a similar "look"
to them. However, the various different POWER-GATE devices
using a similar case and design can be programmed and
custom modified to perform a broad range of functions
- including several functions in one design (refer to
the "Device Options"
list below and on the Pricing Sheet).
To help Customers understand the various POWER-GATE devices,
they have been given separate "names" or "labels"
- to help Customers that may have "a particular name
or function of a device in mind" when looking for
a solution.
All
of the Perfect Switch devices are entirely made in the USA
so they qualify under NAFTA (no import duties or tariffs
in North America). Most of these products are made to order
with typically only a 1 to 3 day lead time from date of
ordering and payment.

wiring harness allows you to connect external or remotely
located LED indicator lamps or other devices such as
warning buzzers etc. to inform operators when there
is a problem. Normally installers will supply these
optional remotely located LED indicator lamps etc. Here
is the manufacturer's guidelines for connecting external
warning lamps/ devices: Current draw not to exceed 60mA.
Wires coming from the connector are switched to ground
when active, so the cathode of the LED should connect
to the harness wire, and the anode should connect to
the positive source Voltage. We can in some cases offer
these devices by Mouser, DigiKey, Blue Sea and Waytek.

Perfect Switch Products/ Relay Information
POWER-GATE
Solid State Relays are constructed based on their patented
arrayed MOSFET technology. MOSFET transistors have an integrated
body diode and depending on the application's direction
of current flow, two primary configurations of POWER-GATE
Relays are offered: uni-directional and bi-directional.
All relays can be manually controlled, autonomously controlled,
or a mix of both manual and automatic features.
Uni-Directional
Relays are designed to sit between a source and
a load. Some examples would be a relay sitting between and
battery and a motor, or between a battery and an inverter.
Current will only flow in one direction from the battery
to the load its powering.
Uni-directional
Relays can be controlled manually, triggered when
the user applies system Voltage to the device's trigger
input. When trigger is applied the relay closes (conducts
current), and when trigger is removed, the relay opens (ceases
to conduct current). They can also be configured to work
autonomously where the on-board micro controller decides
when to conduct current, or not to conduct current based
on system Voltage, timing, or current cues. With this kind
of flexibility built into every relay, devices can be configured
to serve as:
Low
Voltage Disconnects (LVD).
Placed between a battery and loads, the device will
allow the battery to power accessories connected to
the output of the relay. If the battery Voltage dips
below a specific low voltage threshold, the relay will
open and stay open until the Voltage is sensed to be
above a specific turn-on Voltage. For example, the relay
can be used to power several hundred Amps of accessories
connected to the relay output. On a 12 Volt system,
if the Voltage drops to 12.3 Volts for at least one
minute, the device will sense that as a stable, low
Voltage condition and open the relay. The relay will
stay open until the system Voltage is sensed to be 13.0
Volts indicating a charging source has been applied.
When 13.0 Volts is sensed, the relay will close restoring
the connection between the accessories and the battery.
Low Voltage disconnects are common in marine and fleet
applications and are often called LVD's or Voltage sensitive
relays. POWER-GATE is far more than just a low Voltage
disconnect as it can provide both low Voltage disconnect
and high Voltage disconnect (HVD) functionality, under
and over current functionality, handle in-rush current,
and provide short circuit protection all in a compact
and ultra-efficient module.
Programmable
Autonomous Relays. Placed between a battery and loads, the relay can
be factory programmed to respond to under-Voltage, over-Voltage,
under-current, over-current, or provide logic feedback
to the user's system. When configured as a programmable
autonomous relay, let us know what you need and Perfect
Switch will program the device to suit your application.
Circuit
Breakers.
Placed between a source and loads, the device can be
programmed to differentiate between typical in-rush
conditions, and an over-current or shorted condition
which causes the relay to open ceasing current conduction
between the source and load. Once open, it's typically
programmed to stay latched open until a reset signal
is applied. Think of it as a very smart, very flexible,
very fast circuit breaker.
Standard
Relays.
Placed between the source and load. Much like typical
relays where the user applies system Voltage to the
device's trigger input so the relay closes and conducts
current. Removal of the trigger opens the relay so it
ceases to conduct current.
Bi-Directional
Relays
are designed for bi-directional current flow and are
designed to sit between two sources. Some examples would
be a relay sitting between two batteries where current
could flow from battery A to battery B and visa-versa,
or between a battery and an inverter/charger
when current will flow from the battery to the inverter
during the conversion from DC to AC, but the relay will
also have to allow charging current to flow from the
inverter to the battery when the inverter/charger is
actively charging the battery. A back-to-back MOSFET
configuration enables current to flow in a bi-directional
fashion.

POWER-GATE
Battery Isolators are industry leading, high performance,
one-way electrical valves. They are commonly deployed in
multi-battery applications where independent discharge or
battery separation is required. Never confuse conventional
battery isolators with POWER-GATE battery isolators. POWER-GATE
devices enjoy ultra-low on-resistance and require no heat
sinking and no airflow at currents up to 600 Amps.
Recommended by EnerSys (manufacturer of Odyssey, Hawker,
Loadhog, Powersafe, General, NP, Ironclad, Genesis, Heritage,
and Varta batteries), and utilized in both military and
civilian applications, POWER-GATE Battery Discharge Controllers
insure that power gets to where it's needed without the
excessive heat and Voltage drop typified by more common,
lesser performing silicon and Schottky devices. Unlike conventional
silicon and Schottky isolators, POWER-GATE's achieve sub-100
micro-ohm performance, even as the currents climb through
600 Amps; that's over 1,000% more efficient than traditional
silicon and Schottky technology. With heat being the primary
killer of electronics, engineering heat OUT of the product

BATTERY
DISCHARGE CONTROLLERS
Perfect Switch manufactures Battery Discharge Controllers
in two configurations: Single Rectifiers and Dual
Rectifiers. Each is designed for use with multiple batteries
and how you plan on using your DC resources will dictate
which device is the appropriate choice for your application.
Single rectifiers and dual rectifiers are available up to
300 Amps. Perfect Switch also offers higher power devices
from 400 Amps to 600 Amps in the newer Generation 4.0 devices.
OR'ing
Diodes are designed to OR two sources to a single load.
Ultra-low on-resistance means devices require no heat sinking
and no airflow at currents up to 300 Amps. OR'ing Diodes
are epoxy encapsulated in a custom ABS enclosure and are
well suited for hostile environments. Both programmable
and non-programmable versions are available. Allow us to

POWER-GATE
non-programmable OR'ing diodes are designed
to selectively OR one of two sources to a load. The
device will automatically conduct current from the
source with higher Voltage (relative to device ground)
to the load. When the primary source drops below the
secondary source, the device will "flip,"
and current from the secondary will drive the load.
The orientation of the internal MOSFET arrays insures
there will be no disruption in power driving the load,
even when transitioning from one source to another.
If source Voltage levels are sufficiently close enough,
dynamic Voltage sag/rise of one source in response
to the opposing source sag/rise can cause oscillation
or rapid-switching between the sources. In this

POWER-GATE

This configuration can be programmed to automatically
conduct current from a pre-defined Master source
to the load. When the primary source drops to a
pre-defined low Voltage threshold (or alternate
metric), the device will "flip," and current
from the secondary Slave source will drive the load.
