EP30 Electric Outboard Motor
On
this project for a small aluminum boat, we supplied
both the Elco EP30 30 horsepower electric outboard
motor together with two Lithionics GT Series 102
Volt lithium-ion batteries with the external NeverDie
Battery Management System (BMS) box. We also fabricated
a custom aluminum battery box.

Victron Energy 100/30 model MPPT Smart solar charge
controller as well as the Victron
Energy Orion TR 30 Amp DC to DC battery charger
that properly isolates the engine alternator output
to permit proper charging of the Lithionics batteries.

foot pontoon houseboat. Pinnacle Innovations can offer most
of our Lithionics Battery Clients a custom made, complete
wiring installation diagram that can be printed on a single
large 3 foot wide sheet of paper by any local Staples stationary
store. These are designed to be easy to follow by novices
and usually include photos of the products themselves to
make it very easy to follow. When buying a Lithionics Battery
from us, we offer this wiring diagram service at a largely
subsidized rate that can be as low as about $300.00 USD

IMPORTANT
NOTES:
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES FOR LITHIONICS LITHIUM-ION BATTERY
SYSTEMS:
With the release of the
Lithionics Advanced NeverDie Battery Management System (BMS)
equipped with Version 8.0 software that is UL approved (as
of May, 2018), there are new temperature parameters that
we want the lithium-ion batteries to fall within - particularly
when charging. This is important especially in vehicles
and some marine applications. If the battery temperature
is below 32 Fahrenheit or above 113 Fahrenheit the single
channel BMS will turn off. As such, we have several ways
that we can control the battery temperature in hot and cold
conditions - such as a special battery enclosure with heating
and/ or cooling features built-in. Also, if we deploy the
Dual
Channel BMS that separates the "Charging"
and "Discharging" functions of the system we can
allow the BMS to switch off charging when the temperature
parameters are exceeded but you can still discharge or use
power from the lithium-ion battery system safely from -4
Fahrenheit to 140 Fahrenheit. Please
consult with getlithium.com/ Pinnacle Innovations
to ensure that we specify the correct system for you that
will perform in the conditions that you need. All battery
types including lead-acid and AGM batteries have similar
optimal operating temperatures but it is not well publicized
- likely due to the relatively lower cost of such battery
technologies with limited performance and life-span.
